| The Tuscarora Environment Program [TEP] is a subsidiary of the Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force [HETF], established in 1992 by the Grand Council. The HETF is composed of delegates chosen by each of the Haudenosaunee Nations who are committed to identifying environmental problems in their communities and to work to find solutions to these problems. The TEP opened its doors in 1997 with a director and one intern. Since then the office has tackled many issues and problems, providing solutions and education to the Tuscarora community. Vehicle Use Tax Form Haudenosaunee Red Card holders, living on the Tuscarora Nation, are tax exempt from Niagara County vehicle use taxes. To qualify for this exemption your car registration must be mailed into the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. The exemption will NOT be taken off at the local Department of Motor Vehicles offices. The County Vehicle Use Tax Exemption Certificate forms are available at the TEP office.

Local Fauna in the Swamp June 28, 3010 - The Tuscarora Swamp Project continues to collect information and develop data to help us understand the state of our Swamp. As we continue over the summer working with E & E, Inc., we are learning more and more about our wetland. One of the great benefits of this project is learning about the different fauna of the Swamp. Community Emergency Response Team June 21, 2010 - It has been almost four years since CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) at Tuscarora has gathered together. This kind of community mobilization is important during emergencies and helps with the flow and organization of friends and neighbors. CERT at Tuscaroa will have an organization meeting Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 7:00pm. Past members are invited to join Matt Patterson at the Old Gym to go over future trainings and opportunities. | Tuscarora Revisits Pennsylvania |

Commemorating the 1710 Meeting in PA June 18, 2010 - A large contingent of Tuscarora visited the State of Pennsylvania recently. June 8, 2010 marked the 300th anniversary of Tuscarora requesting refuge in Pennsylvania to avoid conflict in what became North Carolina. Pennsylvania refused our request and we eventually made the hardy trek up to New York and stayed with the Oneida. The commemorative event was held at the Pennsylvania State Museum in Harrisburg, PA and included a performance by the Iroquois Indian Dancers. |

Apply for Environmental Technician June 16, 2010 - The Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force [HETF] for the Onondaga Nation seeks an Environmental Technician to work with the HETF. The Environmental Technician will assist in the development, organization, coordination and management of environmental programs for the Onondaga Nation. The Environmental Technician will also work on special projects, such as the Natural Resources Damage Assessment of the Onondaga Lake Superfund Site. This will be a full-time position and is open until the position is filled. Native American preference. Sign-up For Summer Camp in August June 2, 2010 - This summer SUNY -Environmental Science and Forestry in collaboration with planning partners including Thompson Island Youth Camp at Akwesasne and the Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force (HETF) are offering "Native Earth" - a summer camp experience for Native youth throughout the northeast region. The camp will be held August 10-20, 2010 and is focused on both traditional and scientific knowledge for caring for the environment. Applications must be received by July 1, 2010.
