| | WELCOME | The Tuscarora Environment Program [TEP] is a subsidiary of the Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force [HETF], established in 1992 by the Grand Council. The HETF is composed of delegates chosen by each of the Haudenosaunee Nations who are committed to identifying environmental problems in their communities and to work to find solutions to these problems. The TEP opened its doors in 1997 with a director and one intern. Since then the office has tackled many issues and problems, providing solutions and education to the Tuscarora community. |

| OTHER UPDATES | Vehicle Use Tax Form Haudenosaunee Red Card holders, living on the Tuscarora Nation, are tax exempt from Niagara County vehicle use taxes. To qualify for this exemption your car registration must be mailed into the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. The exemption will NOT be taken off at the local Department of Motor Vehicles offices. The County Vehicle Use Tax Exemption Certificate forms are available at the TEP office.

Discuss the Future of Tuscarora's Energy January 20, 2012 - All Tuscaroras are invited to join us this weekend for the 5th in a series of meetings leading to a final Tuscarora Energy Plan. Date: January 21, 2012 Time: 10am - 12pm Place: Tuscarora Health and Community Center A draft Energy Plan will be presented and discussed during the meeting. Please come prepared to think about the future of Tuscarora energy. |

Another FREE Salmon Distribution January 4, 2012 - This Friday January 6th, starting at 4pm we will have another FREE salmon distribution at the Community Center. The last one in December was such a huge success, we couldn't resist having another. We gave away more than 1000lbs of fresh salmon in one day! The salmon are from a hatchery in Vermont and are available to our Tuscarora residents and their friends. It's on a first-come, first-serve basis. Delivery is available to elders on the Nation, but please let us know. If you have questions or need more information give our office a call, 297-9982. |
| Tuscarora Book Money Grant |

2012 Grant Applications Available Now December 6, 2011 - Don't forget to apply for the Tuscarora Nation Book grant. The grant is open for enrolled Tuscarora attending college, university, trade school or vocational training program. The money is intended for books and/or supplies. in return, your clan mother may call upon you to help at Tuscarora Nation events for the betterment of our people. When your check arrives, a list of possible avenues for assitance will be attached. Deadline for Sping semester is January 2, 2012. | Another Successful Summer |

Native Earth Environmental Youth Camp August 24, 2011 - This past August we saw another successful Native Earth Environmental Youth Camp at the SUNY-ESF Biological Station, Cranberry Lake, NY and at the Thompson Island Camp at Akwesasne, NY . The 2 week event was sponsored by SUNY Environment Science and Forestry, Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force, and Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Environment. It was also funded by the National Science Foundation. We had three students from Tuscarora attend the camp - Nicholas Barcer, Owen Chapman and Jeremy Ditto. TEP Summer Interns July 13, 2011 - Our TEP staff would like to welcome all of our new TEP interns for the summer. They have been on the job for awhile and we are enjoying their company, and appreciate their hard wark and dedication. Some will be leaving us soon to return to college and we wish them all the luck.
