Tuscarora Nation Exhibit at the Niagara Power Vista

In 2007, the Tuscarora Relicensing Project stipulated the NYPA Power Vista will be the location for a new Exhibit owned by the Tuscarora Nation. The project will be funded by a set amount provided in the Relicensing agreement and will be at the Power Vista for a minimum of fifty (50) years.

In 2008 multiple notifications, posters, and flyers were posted requesting any assistance to coordinate and help with the Exhibit committee. Now in 2009 the committee is requesting help from the Tuscarora Nation to help by including as many Tuscarora and Tuscarora residents in the Exhibit as possible. This is our first opportunity to show our community, our region and the world what Tuscarora is about.

We are requesting help from our people to provide the objects/props for the Exhibit. The objects will not be "rented" or borrowed but purchased for the Exhibit, which means the Nation will own them and display them in the Exhibit. Please look below for objects we would like to include in our Project:

SELECTION PROCESS

The artists will be selected on the basis of submission materials evidencing artistic quality of past work and experiences. In addition, all other support gathered from artist meetings with the committee, and past work done with the Nation will be taken into advisement. We recommend contacting our committee to set up a premliminary meeting to develop a better understanding of the projects and proposals, and for the committee to gain insight to the artists processes and interpretations. This preliminary meeting could replace a formal application, if needed. The proposals selected will be decided by the committee, but we reserve the right to recommend alternative artists if quality proposals are not submitted.
